ADM-HEA invites students on UK-based art, design or media higher education courses to enter this year’s essay competition and answer the question above in an essay of around 1000 words. The overall winning submission will receive £250. All submissions that meet the criteria below and make use of the guidance will be published on the ADM-HEA website.
We are half way through the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development which, led by UNESCO, ‘seeks to integrate the principles, values and practices of sustainable development into all aspects of education and learning.’
According to UNESCO, ‘Sustainable development is seeking to meet the needs of the present without compromising those of future generations. We have to learn our way out of current social and environmental problems and learn to live sustainably’ (UNESCO, http://www.unesco.org/en/esd/)
