A Message from Paul Meyer, Subject Leader for Creative Writing
Hello everyone.
We have been given an exciting opportunity by the University of Bath to send a student to Zambia next year.
Zambia? Why?
Every year, the University of Bath sends a handful of students to Zambia to teach physical education in the schools.
Next year, they would like us to send a student from BSU interested in writing, film and journalism to chronicle their activities via blogs, a website and videos.
In order to be selected you must:
-- raise approximately £2500 through your own fundraising activities
-- show competence using video equip. (cameras, microphones, etc.)
-- be adventurous (ie: willing to ride on a bus from one side of Lusaka to another on your own)
-- be willing to teach local students how to use laptops, cameras, etc. (so they can continue to chronicle their sports activities after your team returns to the UK)
A real challenge. But could be perfect for one of you!

HCI Careers Day
You may have heard the SCHI is planning a 'careers day' for May 10th.
It it is only for students in English, History, Creative Writing, Media, Film, Philosophy & Ethics, Study of Religions and Cultural Studies. It is being supported by your subject tutors, and it is going to be informative and maybe even fun.
There are two focal points to the event: the SU, which will have stalls from some interesting employers (definitely no banks or nasty call centres) and the downstairs lecture theatre in Newton (NE.G02). We have quite a few ex-students coming in, some people working in publishing, charities, a poet, and hopefully Guns N' Roses ex-PR manager (which should be worth coming along for alone!).
Nothing too cheesy, something short and snappy, something that sounds positive. As an incentive we are offering £50 in book tokens to the winning entry, and you can enter more than once.
DEADLINE NOON ON FRIDAY MARCH 31st.
Announcement of winner the following week.
